"We Are the World" - Billboard Hot 100 #1 40 Years ago!

What were you doing 40 years ago?

"We Are The World" was Billboard Hot 100 #1 from April 13, 1985 through the week of May 4, 1985.

Quick update: I just spoke with Ron on the phone. The Rellik is still a go. A few of you from out-of-state RSVP'd, and I know you'd like to purchase your flights as soon as possible.

Jill, Kay and a few Hogan '85 classmates already have author permissions to this blog -- but I'm sure they already forgot. I just sent an invite to Ron so he can post here.

If you'd like to join in on the fun, send me your Gmail.

I've set this up so all blog posts here automatically post to the Hogan Class of 1985 Facebook Page that I created. Like and follow that here, https://www.facebook.com/HoganHighSchool1985.

I'll keep it short for now. Keep '85 alive.

"We Are the World" is a charity single recorded by the supergroup USA for Africa in 1985. It was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian for the album We Are the World. With sales in excess of 20 million physical copies, it is the eighth-best-selling single of all time, meant to raise money for the 1983–1985 famine in Ethiopia.
